"Very good, does what it's supposed to, the chickens are happy and so are we, highly recommended!" — Rene M., verified review
Why choose Natural Whitewash?
- Moisture-absorbing — keeps your chicken coop dry, and red mites survive poorly in dry environments
- Suffocating effect — red mites breathe through their skin; the lime layer causes them to die
- Fills cracks and crevices — reduces hiding places where red mites hide and reproduce during the day
- Better signaling — the white background makes pests much more visible
Important when using: whitewash is alkaline. Work in a well-ventilated area, avoid contact with skin, eyes, and clothing, and do not eat, drink, or smoke during application. Wash your hands thoroughly afterwards. Use only on dry surfaces that are not exposed to rain.
Composition
Active ingredient: natural (slaked) lime, without chemical pesticides.
Who is this suitable for?
Suitable for chicken coops, aviaries, and other poultry housing, exclusively for dry surfaces not exposed to rain.
Usage
- Stir the whitewash thoroughly, dilute slightly with water if necessary
- Apply thin layers to the inside of the coop with a brush or roller
- Work in thin layers to prevent cracking
- Periodically check (approximately every 4 weeks) if the layer still gives off a good white color; apply a new layer if necessary
Tip: the lime can be a bit difficult to stir — mix thoroughly for a smooth, easy-to-apply substance.

What customers say
"Treated the whole coop with lime, that went fine. It was just very difficult to stir/mix it. Once that was done, it was perfectly fine." — Kim E.
Frequently asked questions
How does whitewash work against red mites?
The lime absorbs moisture (red mites survive poorly in dry areas) and has a suffocating effect, because red mites breathe through their skin.
What's the best way to apply whitewash?
Stir well, dilute with water if necessary, and apply thin layers with a brush or roller to prevent cracking.
How often should I renew the lime layer?
Check periodically, approximately every 4 weeks, whether the layer still gives off a white color. If not, apply a new layer.
Can I use whitewash outdoors?
No, use whitewash only on dry surfaces that are not exposed to rain.
Is whitewash safe for my chickens?
Yes, whitewash is natural and contains no chemical pesticides. During application, however, avoid contact with skin and eyes yourself, and work in a ventilated area.
How much whitewash do I need?
1.2L is sufficient for approximately 11 m², 3.8L for approximately 35 m², and 10.8L for approximately 100 m².
